My doctor sent x rays and within 2 weeks I was seen and within a month I had my limb saving operation at ROH Birmingham. Top notch care

Awful Spinal Services

The spinal department at this hospital is not fit for purpose. My GP has sent a referral followed by several expedition letters and still waiting over 4 months later, I've had a scan (that my GP had to arrange) that shows 'growths' now on my spine and my GP has wrote about the concerns to the hospital and been informed 'I'm on a waiting list' and will get an appointment when one becomes available. With my symptoms getting worse and now these growths on my spine it is very concerning, yet the hospital don't seem to care. The booking office are, it's not my problem we book when availability, the medical secretary who I called from the booking office giving me her number basically said its not her job! And not too call again, if the consultant doesn't 'agree' with a GP they won't bring an appointment forward? But he hasn't even seen the images?? So how would he know and also why do i have growths now on my spine that were not there before?
And as for the PALS department, NEVER answer the phone, you leave a message and NEVER get a call back.
This hospital really does need looking, especially the spinal services, booking department who basically are not fit for purpose and a PALS team that don't respond as I don't know, don't like hearing what patients truly have to say about them?
Would give 0 stars if it allowed me too.

Unprofessional staff

My Son has a urgent 2 week referral for spinal fractures. Nearly 3 weeks later the bookings office staff tell us he is still in triage system and now to ring back on the 7th November to see if consultant has looked at his referral for appointment. His GP has contacted them again for his appointment to be expedited and again they sarcastically tell you it's still waiting to be reviewed. 3 spinal fractures and a bookings office clerk I feel is holding back his referral because we have called. They do not give you any time scale when a Dr will be triaging his referral. Its frankly alarming. Unable to contact Pals through telephone. Always answer machine. Today I am writing to chief executive.

I have no complaints

I came for an MRI scan. Everything is good. I was given details of my appointment prior and things were explained. The appointment was on time. I have no complaints. The parking is not easy so my son drops me off and picks me up that way I don't have to worry about parking.

The best in the NHS

I was referred from Brighton to have surgery here. Apparently the guy I'm seeing here is the best in the NHS. They has been good communication prior to the appointment. The reception staff have been helpful and the coffee shop is good whilst I waited.

Overall the hospital is good

We come often for my mom who had one knee replaced and now the other needs doing. She is in pain. She had an MRI and I had to chase the results. The surgeon is very good. It can take 30 minutes to park the car as its so busy. That is very stressful. The coffee shop is nice and the staff are pleasant. The secretary answers quickly by email but not by phone when I call up. Overall, it's a good hospital. The car park is a negative and so too is mom's knee replacement not working. She is on morphine patches for the pain.

Fantastic, nothing to complain about

It's a fantastic hospital. I tore my cartilage years ago but could never afford time off work to get it done and so I came here when I retired and had it done January this year. The doctors were so good and the care was so good that I came back to volunteer here after my discharge. Fantastic, nothing to complain about.

A great hospital. The people and staff make it. Small and efficient compared to other hospitals. They do need to work on the car parking though as it's a nightmare.

Faultless care

I was on ward four for about 5 days after a hip replacement. The care was good, faultless. Follow up physio whilst in was also good.
